Chapter One
I walked down the huge staircase into my enormous lobby room and saw my dad talking to two other men by the front door. *Ahh there you are, I was just talking about you.* My dad said and grabbed my hand, pulling me into the conversation. *Hi.* I said smiling at the men and they smiled back. *Darling, these are two men that I work with, their name's are Mr. Bradley and Mr. Potter.* My dad said and I shook their hands. *They will be attending your party tonight.* He added. After that they sort of pushed me out of the conversation. *Daddy, I kind of wanted to talk to you about the party tonight.* I said tapping his shoulder and he just brushed me off. I waited for a few moments and then walked back up to my room. *Ugh!* I said falling onto my bed and sighing. I lived with my father and my two older sisters. My mom had left us when we were young, she said that my dad worked too much and money was his number one priority. Which is true, I mean I didn't even want a birthday party like he was throwing me tonight. I was turning 18 and he felt I needed a big party.
I was about 5'9', with long wavy dark blonde hair that went to my mid back. My eyes were a crystal sort of blue that I definitely got from my mom and I had a nice figure. I'm not trying to brag and I don't think I'm perfect but I weighed about 130 with nice curves and an all around nice figure. Except I never liked my nose. *Meagan!!* My oldest sister Jen yelled from down the hall. *What?!* I yelled back opening my door and looking down the hall at her. *Dad said to start getting ready for your party.* She said smiling softly at me and I knew I was just being irritable. I walked back into my room and undressed, putting a tight black dress on, that went down to a little above my knees and it was spaghetti strapped. I put on a pair of black platforms that showed off my silky legs. *I hate dressing up.* I said sitting on the edge of my bed. I walked down the stairs and smiled, fake happy smiles, to the people who said hi to me. Half of the people who were talking to me I didn't even know. *Meagan!!* I heard someone yell my name and I turned around. I smiled thinking to myself that I was glad that he was there. *You look great girl.* He said and I walked up to him hugging him. *I'm glad you came Matt, this is so dull.* I said softly to him and we walked outside where everyone was sitting at nicely set tables. There were huge lights and a big stage where there was a band and then a dance floor. *Happy birthday.* Matt said to me and I smiled at him. *How does it feel to be 18 now?* He asked. *Not any different then it did when I turned 17 or 16...* I said and he looked at me. *What's wrong?* He asked stopping me and looking me in the eyes. *Come on, you're the richest person that I know, you have a huge house and all these people came just for you. And you're in a bad mood?* He asked and I smiled weakly at him. *It's not that, I love my dad for doing all this it's just... it's not what I want.* I said looking up to the stage. *You see all those presents up there? Those are all for me and you know what?* I said sitting at a table and he sat across from me. *I'm not even going to use half of them, let alone know the person who gave it me. What I want is a normal life, with a normal family, and a normal birthday party.* I said and Matt looked at me with puppy eyes. *Aww...* He said. *I'm sorry, but hey if you ever want to switch places just tell me okay?* He asked and I laughed at him. *Excuse me,* I heard my dad say through the microphone and I looked up to him. He looked so small from where I was sitting. *I would just like to say Happy Birthday to my baby girl, come up here Meggy.* He said and I blushed at the thought of everyone there hearing him call me Meggy. I walked up to the stage and everyone clapped. *Thank you.* I said softly, tucking some hair behind my ear nervously. I never liked being the center of attention. At that moment the band started playing and everyone was singing Happy Birthday. I blushed even more. *Meagan, I just want you to know that... I can't wait until you go off to college.* My dad said after the song and everyone laughed. *I'm kidding honey. Happy birthday sweetie.* He said pointing to behind the band and five guys walked out onto the stage. They started singing their own version of Happy Birthday and I just stood there.
