Chapter Two

*Wow, dad thanks.* I said trying to act surprised. I was happy but this was a bit much, I thought. Everyone went back to talking and stuff and I motioned for Matt to come over to me, maybe he could save me.
*Hi.* I said to the guys as they walked over to Matt and me.
*Hey.* They all said, in their different ways. *It's nice to meet you.* Brian said to me and as he gazed into my eyes I stared back without even knowing. Finally I caught myself and looked down, blushing. They all said happy birthday to me also and I smiled at them all.
*This is my best friend Matt.* I introduced them all and they shook hands.
*Meagan... hi.* Someone said and I turned around.
*Oh hi Mrs. Baker.* I said faintly smiling. I thought she was the most annoying person alive.
*Happy birthday sweetie.* She said hugging me. After her a whole swarm of people came over to me and pretty soon I was separated from Matt and the Backstreet Boys. I got so fed up with everyone that I went to my room and slammed the door.
~I hate these fucking things.~ I said to myself, as I kicked off my shoes. I sat
down on my bed and I kept wondering what things would be like if I wasnt rich. I didn't mind getting whatever I wanted, although that got to me too, it was the fact that everyone was nice to you, even if they didn't like you. The only reason I trusted Matt was because I had known him for years and he was my best friend. There was a knock on the door, which pulled me out of my thoughts and I got up and opened it a crack.
*Brian?* I asked quickly and then blushed. *I mean, come in.* I said and he laughed a little as I opened the door for him to walk past me.
*Everyone was wondering where you went.* He said.
*Oh,* I said with no enthusiasm. *How did you know I was up here?*
*Well Matt was going to come get you but then someone started talking his ear off so he told me where your room was and I offered to go instead.* Brian explained and I smiled at him.
*Was she really big and cheery?* I asked Brian and it took him a minute to figure out what I was talking about before he answered,
*Yeah, and she talked a lot.* He said stressing the words a lot. We both smiled at each other. *Okay so tell me what's wrong?* He asked and I looked at him.
*Nah, I don't even know you.* I said sitting on my bed, facing the wall. I tried to hold back the tears that started to run down my face but I couldn't.
*No, please tell me.* He said putting his hand on my shoulder but I didn't face him.
*It's nothing... I just hate these stupid parties.* I said sniffing.
*Well I don't think that's the whole reason because I don't think a person like you would cry over a party.* He said and I looked at him, wiping my eyes. He put his thumb to my cheek and rubbed the mascara that had streamed down my cheek off. *So tell me.* He whispered and again I got lost in his eyes.
*It's just everyone at these things always tell me that I look like my mother and I just miss her.* I said in a soft voice and Brian looked down my face.
*I'm sorry.* He said. *I wish there was something I could do.* He added. His hand was still on my cheek, gently rubbing my soft skin. *But you have to come back down because everyone is looking for you. My friend's didn't even really get to talk to you.* He said and I smiled at him.
*Okay, but I have to get ready again.* I said and he smiled at me. Brian waited outside my door while I put my make-up back on and then got my shoes on.
*There's the girl I met earlier.* He said and held out his arm as I linked mine into his.
*I feel so stupid, you're like majorly famous and I just cried in front of you.* I said rubbing my forehead.
*Well don't feel stupid, just think of me as your friend that's here for your party.* He said and I smiled up at him.
