It had been about a year since Meg had seen AJ. She had talked to him on the phone a few times but he eventually got too busy with the end of his tour and then with a new album that they lost touch. She heard that they were coming to New York City, where she now lived, and she was anxious to see him. It's not like she had been waiting for him to come back for her or anything, she had been on plenty of dates, but she did miss him. So she went to the hotel that they were staying at and, hoping that she would be right, gave the desk the code name AJ was under when she met him in Boston, and it just happened to be right. She silently thanked God and got in the elevator and went up to the very top floor, which made her a little uneasy. It was about 10 o'clock and she knew he'd still be at his concert so she sat on the floor outside his door to wait for him. An hour and a half later she heard someone yelling and opened her eyes, seeing someone stepping off the elevator at the other end of the hall.
*Hey! Can I help you? If you're a fan well... you're not supposed to be up here. Who are you waiting--.* AJ cut himself short as he came close enough to the stranger to realize it was Meagan. *Holy shit! What are you doing here?* AJ asked her as she stood up and he
approached her.
*I was kind of hoping you'd want to fall in love with me?* Meg said reminiscing about the time he had said that to her, the first time they'd really met. *I mean... I wanted to see you.* She corrected herself and grinned as she saw AJ smile. He pulled her into a tight hug as he breathed in her scent and realized how much he had missed her too.
*Wow...* AJ said backing up from the hug to look her up and down for a minute. *You look gorgeous.* He complimented her and she smiled, blushed, and thanked him.
*So do you... you look... taller.* Meg replied and AJ laughed.
*Must be all that working out.* He replied and pulled her in for another hug. *This is crazy... I can't believe you're here.* He said looking at her and she laughed a little, smiling at the fact that he was happy to see her. *Come in.* AJ said finally as he unlocked his door and held it open for her to enter first. *You want a drink or something?* AJ asked her and she declined but thanked him. *So how have you been?* He asked and she turned around and smiled, biting her bottom lip.
*Good... a lot has changed. I moved here and... I don't know. It's just been really hectic.* Meg explained and AJ told her to sit down on the couch and he sat down with her. *You?* She asked.
*Wait, you're not going to college anymore?* AJ asked her and she smiled but shook her head no.
*It's not for me... I'm working at this law firm with my uncle, but I just answer the phones. And on the weekends I'm working with little kids... they are so cute!* Meg explained and AJ smiled, admiring her beauty. *How are things with you??*
*Good... great actually. Everyone says this tour is going to be ten times better, I'm really excited. We've only done two shows.* AJ explained and Meg smiled.
*That's awesome.* Meg said and then it got silent, and not friendly silent, weird/awkward silent.
*Listen... I'm really sorry I didn't keep in touch. I've just been--.*
*Don't worry about it. I've been busy too.* Meg said. *You don't have to apologize... this is so freaky. I'm like shaking all over. I was really nervous to come here...* She admitted and then laughed nervously.
*Why??* AJ asked, not wanting her to be scared of him.
*I don't know... I had this picture of you in my head. Of you looking better than before, if it's possible, and being rich and snobby and not even remembering me.* Meg explained and AJ laughed.
*I told you I'd never forget you.* He said seriously and she smiled softly.
*I know. I'm really happy that you're here... I mean that I'm getting to see you.* She tried to explain and AJ laughed as she stumbled over her words.
*Me too.* He said and then there was a knock at the door. They both walked to the door and Nick was revealed to Meg's eyes as AJ opened the door.
*Wow! Hi.* Nick said excitedly as he jumped through the doorway like a little kid and hugged Meg, making her laugh. *What are you doing here?* Nick asked her and AJ laughed.
*I just came to visit.* Meg explained again and Nick smiled.
*That's awesome I hope I see you again.* Nick said smiling down at her. *AJ they said they want us downstairs in like 10 minutes... they need to talk to us about our childish behavior.* Nick said mocking one of the management workers no doubt.
*I'll be right down.* AJ said and then pushed Nick out the door and shut it quickly.
*Alright, well I gotta get going anyway.* Meg said picking up her jacket from the chair she had laid it on.
*No wait, oh my god, you're not just gonna walk out my door again!* AJ said blocking her way and she laughed loudly.
*What do you propose then Mr. McLean?* Meg asked him as she crossed her arms over her chest.
*Uh...* AJ said thinking quickly. *Let's do something tomorrow!* Meg laughed at his childish manor and smiled at him, remembering how hard she fell for him the last time he was in town for a week.
*I have to work tomorrow morning.* Meg replied.
*Uhm, tomorrow night!* He said talking with his hands.
*You have a concert!* She said laughing at his stupidity and he laughed too.
*Oh yeah... well come to the concert. Bring your friends, I'd love to meet some of them. And then after we can all hang out.* AJ said and Meg smiled at him.
*I don't know if it's such a good idea AJ... to get involved again.* Meg warned, looking out for them both and AJ smiled at her and picked her up, swinging her around and she laughed.
*I don't care what you think. Just do what I say.* AJ said to her and slapped three tickets in her hand before he pulled away. *Wear something sexy for me to gawk at while I'm singing tomorrow night.* He said playfully and she laughed again.
*I'll do that just for you.* Meg said as they both walked out of his room and to the elevator together.
*I'm really happy you stopped by, or I would have gone to Boston all excited to see you and it'd break my heart when you weren't there.* AJ explained to her and she looked at him adoringly.
*You woulda gone back?* Meg asked him and he nodded.
*Definitely!* He said and they stepped off the elevator. *I'll see you tomorrow night, just come back here after the concert and I'll meet you up at my room cuz I'm coming in the back way. You know how it is... bein famous and all.* AJ said as he stuck his nose in the air and Meg laughed at him.
*Okay tell everyone I said hi.* Meg told him and he smiled as she wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling awkward at his touch after a whole year. *Bye.* She said.
*Bubye...* AJ said as he wriggled his fingers at her and winked as she walked towards the doors.
Tomorrow Night
*So you guys ready?* Meg asked as her friends arrived at her apartment and were getting ready for the concert.
*I can't believe you never told us you dated a Backstreet Boy! Do you know how big that is?!* Tasha asked her as she applied her make up and Meg corrected her.
*We didn't date... we just had a thing. We're friends.* Meg said and her two friends looked at her.
*Yeah okay.* Rachel said and Tasha laughed, agreeing with her.
*Would you hurry up! You'd think you were going to meet someone important.* Meg said and the two girls laughed.
*Better than important... famous.* Tasha said and they all laughed. About ten minutes later Meg finally got Tasha away from the mirror and they left for the concert. The tickets they had were floor seats, 12th row and they were all psyched.
*You dated that one? Right there?* Tasha kept asking through the concert, unable to believe that he looked so good and Meg just laughed and nodded. *That is so awesome!* Tasha screamed, although it didn't seem loud over the other girls screams, and she hugged Meg. After the concert the three of them got in Meg's car and tried to leave but it was mobbed and it took them about an hour to get out of the parking lot. They went to the hotel and there were millions of girls out front of the hotel too so they parked pretty far, unable to find a close parking spot, and walked to the hotel. Meg had to take her shoes off halfway there because they were hurting her feet. She had worn black boots with light blue bell-bottom jeans and a dark blue shirt. Tasha had worn a dress that went to about her knees and was spaghetti strapped and her shoes weren't bothering her at all. And Rachel wore her normal attire: extremely baggy pants, a plain shirt that usually said something funny on it, and sneakers. She had green, blue, and red hair and it was in dreadlocks. When the three girls finally arrived at the front of the hotel they got inside where more girls were and walked up to the desk. Meg had to lean over to counter and whisper AJ's code name so none of the girls standing around her would hear it and then her and Tasha and Rachel walked over to elevators escorted by a bodyguard. The three girls stood silently in the elevator because the guard was there but Meg kept looking over to Tasha and saw her smiling excitedly.
*There you go ladies.* The man said as the doors opened and he moved aside for them to walk out.
*Thank you.* Meg said politely and then her friends followed her down to AJ's room.
*Hey,* Meg said as Nick opened AJ's door and he smiled, happy to see Meg and her friends, and hugged Meg, letting them all into the room.
*Stop mackin it up with my girl.* AJ said to Nick, obviously still wired from the concert. He walked over to Meg and gave her a hug and then yelled for everyone to be quiet so Meg could introduce her friends.
*Hey guys...* Meg said waving a little and feeling nervous with everyones eyes on her. *This is Tasha and Rachel.* Meg said motioning towards each one when she said their names.
*Hi.* All the guys said in their own ways.
*This is Liz.* Kevin said loudly as he pointed to the girl next to him and they all laughed as the three girls said hi to her. They turned the TV back on and AJ offered them drinks in the kitchen.
*Nick... go keep them company.* AJ said as he motioned for Nick to talk to Meg.s two friends and Meg laughed.
*That was a great concert.* Meg complimented AJ and he smiled and thanked her.
*You didn't wear anything sexy!* He whined jokingly and Meg laughed standing up to look at herself.
*What are you talking about?? I'm always sexy...* She said spinning around in the kitchen and AJ laughed at her.
*A little confident are we?* AJ asked as he stood up, as if challenging her.
*I don't need to be confident, I know I look good.* Meg said with an attitude as she put her hand on her chest.
*Oh really??* AJ asked laughing hard now. *I hate to inform you, but no one looks as good as me, or ever will.* AJ replied and she laughed, but pretended to be hurt.
*Maybe you'd look good if you didn't wear those sunglasses all the time.* Meg said as she approached him. *You have pretty eyes.* She said, poking his face with every syllable.
*Yeah, thanks. I don't need any tips, my fashion style is hot.* He said and she laughed and then walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. *Hey!* He said as he chased her out and tackled her from behind, making her scream and everyone look at them as they fell behind the couch.
*Hey guys,* She said as she put her hand up so they could see it and then her and AJ burst out laughing as he laid on top of her. That night they all just goofed off and hung out, especially AJ and Meg, who wanted to catch up on things.
